This type of connection is available only for Premium subscriptions. Freemium users can use Wireguard through the Privado app for Mac.

WireGuard®* is the latest VPN protocol featuring advanced security and optimized performance.

You can install the WireGuard app for Mac directly from the App Store or by visiting the WireGuard website.

Important: due to the specifics of the WireGuard® protocol, the downloaded configuration remains valid for 30 days. After 30 days, the setup process has to be reiterated.

Installing the WireGuard app on Mac

1. As you find the WireGuard app in the store, click 'Get', then click 'Install'.

2. Enter your Apple ID credentials to approve the download:

3. Go to 'Applications' on your Mac, find 'WireGuard', and double-click on it to launch the app. You will see the WG app icon on your taskbar.

4. Now we need to download the WireGuard configuration file to connect the VPN.

  • Login to your Privado Admin page, and scroll down to 'Manual Configuration'.
  • Select your preferred country and city.
  • Next, click 'Generate configuration' and then 'Download configuration'
  • The file can then be located in your browser's 'Downloads' folder (in our example, it is saved onto the Desktop).

You can generate and download as many configurations as you like, but connect no more than 10 at a time on your available devices.

If you need to look up what city each config prefix (privado.XXX.config) corresponds to, please visit https://app.prvd.app/en/server-list.

5. Click on the Wireguard app, then click 'Import Tunnel(s) from File'. (You can upload one or several tunnels at a time by holding the Command button.)

6. Select and upload the configuration file by clicking 'Import'

7. You will see a warning that you are about to load a component dealing with re-routing your Internet traffic. Click 'Allow':

8. To activate the VPN, either click on 'Activate' on the app interface, or click on the config from the taskbar quick access:

9. To verify your IP location and VPN connection status, please visit PrivadoVPN DNS Leak Test.
