It’s only necessary to set up Smart DNS Proxy one time in order to use it. After you set up the Smart DNS proxy, you don’t have to follow these steps. Your connection will automatically use the correct DNS settings.

It’s very simple to set up Smart DNS Proxy with most routers and modems. You can set your preferred DNS to use Privado’s DNS proxy IP addresses, then it’ll be ready to go.
1. Log into your router Admin Panel.
Depending on your particular router, this can look very different. Usually, there is a website URL that you can go to, or you can open your browser and use one of the following addresses:
http://192.168.0.1
http://192.168.1.1
http://192.168.2.1
Be sure to check your router manual for specific information on how to access your Admin Panel, as not all of the above addresses might work for your particular device. You can also check and see if your router is listed in our Router Setup Guide section.
2. Login to your router Admin Panel.
Again, your router manual will have the specific information about what your default login is, but most routers use “admin” or “root” as the default username and “admin” or “password” for the default password. Be sure to change this when you log in so other people can’t access your router settings.
When you find and enter the correct credentials, you’ll be in the router dashboard.
3. Find your DNS settings and change the IP addresses to your Smart DNS Proxy.
After logging in, you should look for a section called “DNS Settings” or something similar. Often they will be listed on the front page, though sometimes you’ll have to choose a new page from a menu.
Once you find your DNS settings, you may notice that it defaults to being set at “Automatic.” That means that it is using the default DNS server, most likely the one your Internet service provider uses. You are going to want to change that.
Switch to Manual or choose the selection that allows you to enter your own IP addresses for the DNS server. You may see Primary Server and Secondary/Alternate Server or DNS SETTINGS 1 and DNS SETTINGS 2.
Either way, you want to enter the following IP addresses.
Primary DNS: 91.148.225.50
Secondary DNS: 91.148.229.50
4. Save your new settings.
Usually, you’ll see a button that says “Save,” though you might see “Apply” or even a checkmark. Select that button to save your new settings.
5. Restart your Router.
We recommend that you restart your router whenever you make any settings changes. Many routers will automatically restart when you save new settings, but just in case it’s a good idea to manually restart anyway.
